About the Institute of Polymers
The Institute of Polymers is one of the chemical institutes of the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences. It is a leading factor in the investigations in
the field of polymer science in Bulgaria.The research activity of the Institute covers new methods for synthesis and modification of polymers. Block and graft copolymers, water soluble polymers, biocompatible and biodegradable polymers, polyconjugated polymers, flame resistant polymers, polymers with complex forming properties, polymeric membranes, polymer blends, polymer compositions for corrosion protection of metals are prepared and studied. Studies on creating polymeric materials for application in medicine, microelectronics, etc. are also carried out.
The investigations performed at the Institute of Polymers cover most of the priority fields of polymer science. They are in accordance with the specificity of the Bulgarian polymer industry.
The scientists from the Institute of Polymers have internationally acknowledged achievements in the field of ionic polymerization, synthesis and investigations of new polymers with special properties - thermo- and flame-resistant, conductive, bioactive, amphiphilic, etc.
Services
The equipment and the highly qualified staff of our Institute are at your disposal when you need identification, characterization and technological control over polymers and polymer materials. Besides the expert analyses of the samples we provide information about the interpretation of the analytical data and about the specific conditions of using those materials further on. You will be readily given consultation and/or advice on the materials and their usage as well as on the development of production technologies.
Courses and individual training of specialist from the industry are also provided upon request.
